What is Invisalign Treatment?
We use Invisalign treatment, one of the world’s most advanced clear aligner systems, which is recognised worldwide, since 1997. Invisalign Treatment is a clear aligner system created to realign an individual’s smile. The aligners are made from a SmartTrack material, created using the most advanced digital imaging technology to create precise and predictable results. In comparison to conventional fixed braces, the aligners are clear and trimmed to fit snug to the gum line to maximise patients comfort and compliment a discreet appearance, while aligning the teeth. Each aligner created is slightly different so that over the course of treatment, the teeth will slowly and gently be realigned. Treatment can take as little as 6—12 months.
The Benefits of Invisalign Treatment:
The aligners are clear and discreet, ensuring there is no compromises on the aesthetic appearance during treatment, unlike traditional braces, showing wires and brackets
The aligners are comfortable, having no wires or brackets creating a discomfort
With the aligners being removable, this promotes good oral hygiene to be maintained throughout treatment, meaning no wires or brackets restricting access
The Invisalign system is created with advanced technologies, increasing predictability, accuracy and a high success rate
Treatment is carried out remotely maximising convenience, limiting in house dental appointments and interruptions to busy schedules
With the aligners being easy to take in and out for eating and drinking anything other than water, the convenience of treatment is maximised
No wires and brackets, meaning no dietary restrictions

What can Invisalign Treatment correct?
Overbite
This is where the upper teeth appear to bite over the lower teeth.
Over jet
This is where the upper teeth protrude outwards
Cross bite
This is where the upper teeth are placed on the inner side of the lower teeth.
Overcrowding (crooked teeth)
This is where there is not enough room in the mouth for all of the teeth, making the teeth appear to be overlapping or crooked.
Open bite
This is where the upper and lower teeth don’t meet when the mouth is closed and it creates the mouth to remain open when in a resting position.
Underbite
This is where the lower jaw extends forward beyond the upper jaw.
Spacing
This is where there is more room in the jaw, creating spacing between the teeth.
Process of Invisalign treatment
Step 1
First a smile evaluation will be carried out to discuss what you like and don’t like about your smile and before photos will be taken as part of treatment planning. With Invisalign’s research and advanced digital technology, it enables us to do 3D digital scans of the teeth to propose unique treatment plans, referred to as a clincheck.
Step 2
Once the planned clincheck has been received back, you will be able to see how the digital technology individually maps the tooth movement and gives more end predictable results. In some cases, attachments may be placed to the teeth (which is a tooth coloured material) and this helps with the fitting of the aligners as it creates some pressure to help the movement take place, but this will be discussed during the treatment planning and once the you’re happy with the proposed treatment plan, it can be sent off and the aligners will be created.
Step 3
Once the aligners have arrived, the dentist will show you how to place the aligners in and out, and how to care for them and maintain good oral hygiene. You’ll then be sent away with your first series of aligners, to change weekly. The aligners are to be worn for 22 hours per day and removed for eating and drinking anything other than water.
Step 4
The progress will be monitored with 4-6 week reviews, to ensure the best possible end result is achieved and further series of aligners will be given upon each review. At these reviews, you will further receive more aligners to follow which will be changed independently in direction from the dentist, according to the treatment plan.
Step 5
Once treatment is completed, you’ll receive the retainers to wear of a night as part of the retention programme to help ensure their smile remains perfect.

Things to know about Invisalign treatment:
Care of aligners-
Caring for your aligners is pretty easy and low maintenance, and that’s the beauty of Invisalign. When you remove your aligners, you can brush them as normal with your toothbrush and toothpaste. Be sure not to use hot water as this can damage the aligners.
Retention programme
After treatment there is a possibility of a relapse (the teeth becoming crooked again, as teeth will naturally try to shift over long periods of time.) Therefore, to retain an aligned position of the teeth, a thin fixed wire at the back of the teeth would be placed and a removable orthodontic retainer to wear of a night, minimising the chance of a relapse.
There is no extra cost of the wire and retainer, they are included in your Invisalign treatment.
Q & A:
What is a clincheck?
A ClinCheck for Invisalign treatment is a 3D animated treatment plan that shows how the teeth will move throughout the Invisalign treatment. It's a virtual representation of the dentist's prescribed treatment plan, allowing the patients and the dentist to visualize the expected outcome before the journey begins.
What is IPR?
If IPR is required, this will be discussed during treatment planning, and it is an abbreviation for interproximal reduction. The procedure of IPR is quick, easy and a minimally invasive technique which is carried out using a small IPR strip to create slight space between certain teeth, giving them room to move into an aligned position.
What are attachments?
If attachments are required, this will be discussed within the planning of the treatment. It involves placing some tooth-coloured material to some teeth which acts like an anchor with your aligners to help movement by applying gentle force. The attachments are polished off at the end and cause no damage to the surface of the tooth, it is literally a filling material.
Are there any restrictions with treatment?
No restrictions, making this treatment popular.
How long does treatment take?
Cases vary on individuals, but it could take as little as 6-12 months. If any additional aligners are required to achieve the greatest results, this can be done, as there is an option for to an extra 2 rounds of 10 additional aligners.
